Sudden, transient loss of consciousness due to acute global cerebral hypoperfusion is called syncope. Differentiation of syncope from other causes of transient loss of consciousness is difficult. Its clinic varies from mild symptoms to life-threatening conditions. It is extremely important to identify high-risk patients and follow them in the hospital. There are 3 types of syncope: reflex syncope, syncope due to orthostatic hypotension, and cardiac syncope. These types of syncope have different diagnostic methods and different treatments.
